Founded in the summer of 2013 by Director’s Gareth Jones and Brian Wilson, APT has been raising levels and awareness of health and safety in the workplace for some time now, and the company continues to grow and diversify each year that goes by.

Also now a Director having joined at the ground level straight from University, is Dan Counter, who is currently tasked with implementing the organisation’s 10-year-plan; to become the largest health and safety training provider in the UK.

Investing in people

We believe in developing and rewarding great work and investing in people long term, and as such, we always have one eye on the future. This is why we currently have two apprentices on our books who are learning the ropes and developing fast.

Having started the business with just one trainer, Brian, the firm has grown to have a staff of 40, with more than double that number in additional contract workers.

Keeping people safe (and healthy)

It’s hard to put a number on how many people and organisations we’ve trained and helped to stay safe at work since our formation, but since implementing a new Customer-Relationship Management system at the start of 2015, we have worked with at least 1,500 separate entities.

Some of this number will be individuals, but the majority is businesses who have sent numerous candidates to us for training, meaning the actual number of individual recipients will be far, far greater.  We’ve been roughly doubling in size and scope year-on-year – and this growth shows no sign of stopping, as we look to expand our training and consultancy provision further across and outside of the UK.

In terms of the quality of training and customer service you can expect from APT, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a ‘one-man band’ or a large corporation with thousands of staff. You’ll be treated with the same level of courtesy, respect and professionalism regardless of your status or affiliation, age, sex or gender.

We’re one of only 3 nationwide training providers to Kier, the second biggest UK construction contractor, employing 20,000+ people. But we also work with a range of sole traders and independent contractors, and fully understand the importance of this remit. After all, it only takes one poorly trained person to cause a workplace – or public – catastrophe…

Since 2016, the growth in the number of our specialist trainers has correlated directly with the doubling in the number of trainees, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the high quality of our training and refusal to spread ourselves too thinly or cut corners.

With our latest NEBOSH qualification accreditation, we continue to increase our offering to candidates here in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire as well as right across the UK.
