A new year is always a good time to reflect on health and safety practices and if you’ve not quite managed to up your game in January, we’ve got a range of upcoming CITB approved courses this year. In 2018, over 25% of all fatal accidents in the workplace took place in the construction industry, showing that even with growing HSE legislation, it is still an industry that needs to take health and safety seriously. All team members can be appropriately equipped with our range of CITB approved courses.
CITB – HSA
The Health and Safety Awareness course is designed for new starters who have just entered the construction industry and provides a good baseline of knowledge. This full day course covers basic understanding of health and safety, duties and responsibilities and how to spot risks and danger on site. Coming out with an understanding of how accidents can be prevented, relevant legislation and how their role fits into the control and management of the site, candidates will be equipped with the knowledge of how to behave in a safe manner on site.
CITB – SSSTS
Designed for employees further up the hierarchy, the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme helps delegates to identify how their supervisory roles affect the running of a safe and workable site. Learning how to identify and carry out method statements, inductions and tool box talks, candidates will come from the course knowing the difference between proactive and reactive monitoring.
CITB – SMSTS
A course designed for members of staff at the top of the management chain, the Site Managers Safety Training Scheme is tailored to the role of persons in charge. Focusing on health and safety legislation, the course comprehensively covers site set up, scaffolding, excavations, electricity, confined spaces, demolition and discusses the recent changes to accepted working practice. Whether you’re moving up the chain of command or moving to a new employer, most insist upon this qualification for their site managers.
