December is notoriously known as the time of peace on earth and many people use the festive season to quietly reflect on the year gone by and make changes for the year ahead. Here at APT, our health and safety experts in Staffordshire are always looking for ways to improve, so we’ve taken a look back at all the major achievements from 2019 that have helped us equip more individuals and companies with relevant safety training.
Mental Health First Aid Training
In 2019 APT expanded their health and safety training provisions by working with Mental Health First Aid England to bring put on mental health first aid training courses. The 2-day course aims to equip professionals with the capabilities to spot poor mental health in employees and give them the necessary skills to deal with it in a professional, caring and conscientious manner. We’re extremely pleased that we were able to provide people with this course and helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health at work.
CSCS Green Cards
Construction workers are required by law to competent and qualified and a CSCS green card shows employers that an individual has undertaken a health and safety training course. Although APT have offered CITB accredited health and safety training in Staffordshire for a while, in 2019 we became and approved touch screen test centre! By offering candidates the chance to undertake the mandatory test at our training facilities, we can help more construction workers gain this safety passport and gives employers the opportunity to claim money back when they enrol their workers on a CSCS approved course.
This year we decided to extend the ways that we can provide training by introducing closed courses. This allows us to deliver a range of our health and safety training courses in Staffordshire and beyond, to a group of individuals from the same company all at once. Not only is this option more convenient for some employers but can be more cost-effective to train lots of workers at once, without incurring travel expenses.
