Furthermore, we can now offer off site SSSTS training and other courses at our new Birmingham training location, the Ibis Styles Birmingham NEC and airport hotel.

We are accredited by the Constuction Industry Training Board (CITB) to run SSSTS courses in Birmingham and on-site at businesses across the United Kingdom.

What is SSSTS?

The SSSTS course is administered by the Construction Skills Network (CSN), who provide market intelligence and insight for the UK construction industry, in partnership with the CITB. The course is designed for first line managers or those who anticipate acquiring supervisory duties.

SSSTS sets out an individual’s legal and moral responsibilities, giving guidance in the monitoring of safety practices of groups of operatives. The course will prepare candidates for the subsequent Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).

SSSTS Aims and Key Objectives:

  • To understand the problems of the industry
  • To identify how their supervisory role fits into that of the manager in controlling site safety
  • To appreciate how health and safety law is structured
  • To understand what is meant by proactive and reactive monitoring and appreciate their need
  • To carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
  • To carry out site inductions, tool box talks and method statement briefings
